During the program  women learn about communication; facilitation; conflict resolution; healthy relationships; preparing for employment and learn of what opportunities exist in the community for future employment and/or training. The participants spend considerable time understanding the value of setting and implementing goals.

POWER UP! has always included in the program opportunities for women to connect with guest speakers from non-profit organizations, government agencies and  others from the community.

Our program  includes workshops that have addressed anti-oppression, leadership, storytelling, financial literacy, team building, personal development, soft skills, communication skills, the history of women, asset mapping, presentation skills, goal setting, etc.

Storytelling is an important part of our program and participants have the opportunity to construct and share their stories through the development of a personal reflection portfolio and guided poetry.  Consistently, these activities prove to be a favourite among women and provide a space where women can be creative and expressive. Activities such as these foster skills in creativity, problem solving, self-advocacy, and boundaries.
